Free Online Font Subset Generator
Features
Keep only the glyphs you need
Type or paste the characters your page actually renders and every other glyph is dropped, turning a multi-megabyte CJK font into a file small enough to ship.
One-click character presets
Fill the character box with frequently used Latin letters, digits and punctuation in one click, or load a common Chinese character set — then trim it down to your own text.
Works with TTF, WOFF and WOFF2
The subsetter accepts TrueType, WOFF and WOFF2 files and writes the result back in the same format as the source, so nothing has to be converted before you can use it.
Duplicate and space removal
Repeated characters are collapsed and whitespace is ignored automatically, so pasting a paragraph produces the same clean glyph set as typing a single word.
Runs entirely in your browser
Subsetting is done locally with a compiled font engine — your font file is never uploaded to a server, and you can safely subset licensed fonts on a private machine.
Frequently asked questions
How do I create a font subset?
Choose a .ttf, .woff or .woff2 file, enter the characters you need in the text box — or click the Latin or Chinese preset to start from a common set — then click the create button to download the subset.
Is this font subset generator free to use online?
Yes. It is a free online tool with no sign up, no watermark and no usage limit. Open the page, pick a font and download as many subsets as you like.
Does my font file get uploaded anywhere?
No. Parsing and subsetting both happen locally in your browser, so the font never leaves your device and you can subset commercially licensed fonts without worrying about confidentiality.
What happens to characters I leave out?
They are removed from the file. Any text rendered with those characters will fall back to another font on the visitor's machine, so include every character your page can display — including digits and punctuation.
Why should I subset a font instead of using the original?
A full CJK font often weighs several megabytes, while a subset holding a few hundred characters is often under 100 KB. That directly cuts page weight, which improves load time and Core Web Vitals.
Which output format do I get?
The same format as the file you uploaded — upload a WOFF2 and you download a WOFF2. If the source font is broken or the character set is empty, the tool reports the error instead of writing a corrupt file.
